About This Portfolio
The Chimera Costumes portfolio represents over 17 years of commission work — from competitive masquerade pieces to convention-worn everyday builds. Every item in the portfolio was custom-drafted from the client's measurements. The builds below are among the most documented and referenced in the studio's history.
Jessica Rabbit — Who Framed Roger Rabbit
One of the most structurally demanding builds in the portfolio. The extreme off-shoulder neckline that maintains position without straps, the fitted bodice providing real support without visible structure, and the character-accurate proportion work required a custom internal corset foundation built into the garment. Total build time: approximately 38 hours. This build is referenced frequently in the #boobcore community as an example of what structural engineering can achieve in costume construction.
Smaug — The Hobbit (DragonCon 2021)
Over 800 individually heat-formed EVA foam scales, a wire-armature articulating jaw, LED eye detail, and carbon fibre wing structure. The most labour-intensive build in the portfolio at 120+ hours. The costume competed in the DragonCon masquerade and survived the full convention parade — the definitive test of structural engineering.
Steampunk Wonder Woman
Character mashup: Victorian industrial steampunk aesthetic applied to Wonder Woman's visual identity. Full Worbla armour set, a bespoke boned corset in cobalt silk dupioni with brass decorative hardware, and a complete accessory set including the brass-chain lasso and clockwork tiara. Approximately 65 hours across design and construction.
Nami — One Piece
Anime-accurate build featuring a hand-constructed Log Pose prop (Worbla over foam core, 6 hours of construction alone), custom-dyed performance lycra in the exact correct orange (tested against anime screenshots under convention lighting), and a competition-level finish throughout.
